Help with Box turtle substrate.?

Hi there, I'm a boxie mom and was wondering about the use of shredded paper as something she can "burrow" in. She's housed in a "table" that's 4ft long, 2ft wide and about 9in deep. There is a corner of the table that is another box with an arched hole she can move through and this area is covered with it's own lid. Right now I have echo earth in it that I keep moist and she'll burrow in this. I was just looking for something cleaner and had read about maybe using shredded paper. Is that ok??
